Personal Writing Challenge

Personal Writing Challenge 2009

I am a procrastinator from way back. Because of this, this year’s PWC will be based on quarterly goals. 100K a quarter. I’ll update my word count at the end of every month to keep track.

My additional goals:

1. Submit to at least three additional publishers

2. Submit to at least one agent a quarter

3. Write 2 novels this year

I think that’s enough, don’t you? LOL.

Good luck to you all in your goals. I’ll let you know how I do in mine!

xoxo,

Dawn

Jan-Mar 2009

Lesson’s learned: The writing obsession in October and November led to a serious case of burnout, one that followed me into January. I decided to take it easy, one step at a time this year.

2008 Writing Challenge:

I didn’t make my writing goal for 2008, but I wrote 134,986 words from September to December. Any more than that would have been superhuman. LOL! I found I needed to re-evaluate my goal set.

2008 Accomplishments:

8 new releases

4 additional contracts into 2009

Won NaNoWriMo for the first time (at 52K plus)

Wrote my second novel to date

Launched Phenomena Authors

Hosted a Left Behind and Loving it Workshop

Completed intense hand to hand combat and weapons training courses

Awards and Accolades:

Won Honorable Mention for best Science Fiction/Fantasy book 2008 from Love Romances and More Cafe for Big, Blooming and Wild! Texan Bound

Babes in Toyland 2 nominated for a CAPA for Best Erotic Anthology 2008

In 2008, PWC was born and this is how it happened:

Kim Knox threw down the gauntlet and I accept. Nevermind that as of 15 September I’d have to write approximately 2100 words a day to make my gutsy (some say ludicrous) goal. It’s mine, my own, and no one else has to take up this insanity!

Negativity is not welcome here since I’ll be doing plenty of that on my own. Supportive comments and kickass whoo hooos!, on the other hand, are.

So I hear you, Kim Knox, vixen of word challenges. I’ll see your wordcount and spur us on until we both exceed our goals! Come hell or high water. :)

I dub this insanity the Whiskey Straight ‘08. Cuz that’s what I’m gonna toss back when I reach this goal by 11:59 pm December 31st, 2008.
