BUY LINK

In a moment she had the panel back open, and was knocking on Shon’s door. It slid open, and the greeting she’d planned died on her lips at the sight of him in nothing but white linen pants. Ebony skin stood stark against the material. It was thin enough that she had little doubt he entertained the same need she suffered from.

The breadth of his chest and the cut of his muscles brought an ache deep in her pussy. He was primal and delicious. “Hello.”

“I really like that you purr for me.”

Kaia arched an eyebrow. “Your ego is astounding.”

He held out his hand. “I’ve piqued your curiosity.”

Kaia tilted her head. One hand touched the curve of her throat. His eyes tracked the movement with sensual precision, leaving Kaia breathless. She strolled past him, letting her tail slide up and around his body.

“Has your Jake decided on a plan?” Was that a growl she heard in his voice? Her pussy slickened, and repressed feral appetites jumped again to the surface.

“Jake isn’t my anything. And yes, he has. We move when it’s time to attend the fireworks.” Her pussy ached. Damn, this was insane.

“And?”

A purr rumbled from her chest. “Until then we keep ourselves secure in your room.”

Her tail caressed his chest, and flicked away when he would have touched.

“Whatever will we do with the time?” Shon let the door fall shut. Kaia saw the subtle shift from host to predator, in the lines of his body, in the way he watched her. Shon locked them in with a quiet click of the mechanism. A sound that ricocheted through her heart, beating it into a rapid staccato.

“You play a dangerous game.” His voice was a warning growl, likely meant to startle or warn, but left Kaia with moisture dripping from her pussy.

“Would you prefer I leave?” Kaia lowered her lashes and waited, body primed for lust.

“You’re past that option now, sweet.” His expression turned hungry, and his pupils dilated. A spicy scent filled Kaia’s senses.”It’s begun.”

The hair on the back of her neck stood on end. “What has?”

“The hunt.” His grin was primal, dark.

Kaia slowly backed away, keeping her hands in front of her. “Do you like the suite?”

“It’s large and accommodating enough for my needs.” Fangs gleamed with his smile.

“What needs would those be, Elder?” Her inner muscles tightened with repressed excitement. When would he –
He moved, faster than any biped she’d ever seen. Kaia sprang from her spot, and ran through the entryway to the large sitting room.

Kaia kept the furniture between them while they stalked each other in a circle, each movement keeping the other equidistant. Shon ran his fingers down his hard chest until they hooked under the waistband of his linen pants. In seconds they dropped.
Kaia’s mouth watered at the sight of Shon’s hard dick. Thick and round and just as delicious as the rest of him. She wanted to taste, to lick. And if he didn’t do something soon, she was going to throw him down and fuck him. While her instincts protested that, she was human enough in her genome to want some satisfaction.

His palm stroked the length of his cock. A soft mewl escaped her throat, and she bit her lip to keep silent. His other hand touched his balls, rolling them around in his fingertips. What would her pale hands look like on his skin?

“You have no place to go. Why don’t you give up?” His mocking smile brought a spark of anger to the surface of her lust-filled mind.

“You should know what happens when a cat is cornered, honey.” She was tempted to strip as well, but stayed her hands. Soon enough.

“I might.” He stalked and the slow dance began again.

Kaia licked her lips. His body was beautiful. Sweat slicked his skin. Each movement was like sex in motion. He moved forward and she backed away. Shit, he was changing his direction. Her pussy creamed in anticipation.

He stepped forward again and she backed up. Her thigh hit something hard. Pain shot down her leg and she hissed through her teeth. He pounced and she jerked away, using her other leg to spring from her position.

She dropped to all fours and her gaze slid between his cheeky grin and the table his hand now caressed. Ambushed by a table. Her pride smarted a bit.

“I can taste your lust in the air.” His slow inhalation drew her gaze back to his cock. Fluid pearled at the tip and she moaned softly. Her hand touched the bruised muscle of her thigh, soothing the ache.

“I can see yours.”

You guys know I rarely do reviews. There are many reasons, most of them deal with how difficult it is to break down exactly what it was about a book I liked, loved, or hated. There are those books, however, that stand out and take my attention like nothing else. Shadowlight is one of those books. Lynn Viehl does it again.

She was kind enough to provide an ARC of Shadowlight for me to read. And before we begin…if I didn’t like the book, I’d return the ARC and not review it on my blog. So with that out of the way…

I was immediately sucked into the story and transported to the humid beauty of Georgia. She has a way with words and description that make you feel as though you’re breathing the same air and living the adventure.

This is the first book in a new series that involve the Kyn. You don’t have to read the previous Darkyn series to understand what’s going on. So trust me, this is definitely a great start to the world.

There may be a few moments that leaves the reader scratching their head, but it made me curious to move on to the next book…

I don’t want to give spoilers so I’m just going to say this… It takes a helluva writer to make me fall in love with a hero and heroine from the very beginning. Shadowlight does that in spades. From a realistic heroine stuck in hell, to a hero with an incredible story of his own, and finally a villain you love to hate… Shadowlight was one wild ride that never let up.

Shadowlight by Lynn Viehl

With a single touch, Jessa Bellamy can see anyone’s darkest secrets. She’s tried to hide her psychic ability from everyone, but a biotech company called GenHance has discovered her talent, and intends to take her, kill her and harvest her priceless DNA to sell it to the highest bidder.

A mysterious photographer named Gaven Matthias is also interested in Jessa; he’s been trying to find her for months. When GenHance makes their move, Gaven has no choice but to kidnap Jessa himself so he can protect her and convince her to join him in helping protect others like her.

Jessa discovers that she can’t see any of Gaven’s secrets, so she doesn’t know if he’s telling the truth, but as a monstrous assassin created by GenHance’s experiments closes in on them, she must decide if the strong attraction they share is proof enough that Gaven is her greatest ally — or is a smokescreen hiding a terrible secret.

So here’s a list of fantastic places I visit when I’m stressed!

Take a look at this list from Michelle Hasker. I adore her Leandros and Bodyguard Series. Le Sigh. I want a Sorin all my own.

Did you know Changeling Press has a monthly ezine packed full of fun trivia, free stories to take your breath away, and some awesome author interviews? Check it out HERE.

Speaking of free stories, Maura Anderson’s amazing flash fiction pieces really get my brain working again. She’s brilliant and I’ve been a huge fangirrl forever!

Lynn Viehl is a woman after my own heart. I read her Unemployment Fantasies and cried I was laughing so hard. There are so many things I would love to do/say if it was my last day at my day job. So many. LOL.

Remember when I showed you the pic of my writing CAVE? I gushed all over about my Asus eee and how much I loved it. Alison Kent has an ASUS eee laptop!!! She’s started a new writing journey and I check in every couple of days to see how she’s doing. It’s *really* working for her and I’m super excited! Especially since I want to run out and buy her next Blaze!

Have a good week, all.

*hugs*

Mood : sad

Author Jo Leigh is one of my favorite Harlequin authors. Her blazes are an inspiration and I’ve never seen anyone write as tightly as she does. During 70 days of sweat she was an amazingly supportive lady, full of fun and really pushing us all to succeed. It breaks my heart to know that her husband passed on Friday. She is struggling due to the cost of medical bills. It’s heartbreaking. I found this information via Lynn Viehl’s Paperback Writer blog. So I’m forwarding this message, in its entirety, from Stephanie Tyler’s weblog:

———————————————————-
“One of our own, author Jo Leigh (aka Jolie Kramer) lost her husband on June 13 after he courageously battled cancer. If you don’t know their story which is the stuff romance novels are made of, you can read it here and see their wedding picture here.

In addition to being a fabulous friend to so many and a mulit-RITA nominated author who has written for Harlequin Blaze, Temptation, Intrigue, Special Projects, Silhouette Intimate Moments and Meteor Kismet, Jo is known across the country for the amazing writing classes she teaches, including one on plotting that is incomparable. She has been incredibly generous to so many in sharing her knowledge and expertise.

Unfortunately, Jo has been left with a lot of medical expenses she will be struggling to cover as they had no health insurance, and we would like to help her out by holding several fundraising auctions. If you have items to donate – books or book baskets/collections, critiques, ARCs of upcoming releases, mentoring opportunities, web or promotional material design work etc., please email the item description to the following email address: forjoleigh@gmail.com. This is the address we’re using to organize the items.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Alison Kent, HelenKay Dimon, Larissa Ione, Stephanie Tyler

**edited to add – We’ve been asked about monetary donations – please email me via my contact page and I’ll email you the paypal address, if this is how you wish to help Jo.

We’ve already covered a lot of loops and groups, but if you’d like to post it where you haven’t seen it, or put it up on your blog, that would be wonderful.”
———————————————————

I don’t know what I’m going to do to help. The cost of shipping is so outrageous right now. I’ve got a quilt I could finish and send in. Perhaps a service I could offer. I have several print books I’d love to throw in. What about you? Anyone else wanting to give? Or do you know another website, author, individual who’s donating something? If so, I’ll be happy to add their links to the bottom of this post.

Lynn is donating a gorgeous quilt as well as some signed Darkyn and StarDoc novels.
