Sven Ends…

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

Mood : accomplished

On this post, I’d given you all a preview of the month of May. As you can see some of them were crossed out already. One of them was Sven. The 70 days of sweat, begun by Alison Kent and continued by so many wonderful people… Some of them were kind enough to stop by and give me a hurrah! The 70 days officially ended yesterday, the 16th.

My original goal was 4 novellas and it was done…

1. Spaceport: Bounty…coming in at 24K

2. Rookery Cove: Ocean’s Call…coming in at 22K

3. Del Fantasma: Bermuda Triangle…coming in at 15K (it goes to the editor tomorrow after I tweak it a bit)

4. The Shadow Demon…coming in at 20K. I’ll tell you more about THIS one, later. *WEG*

For the FIRST TIME I have finished a Sven challenge! *throws confetti* 81K holy wow. Who knew?

I feel accomplished…and ready to get to work on another project!

Back in the Swing of things

My inspiration…The heat is on ladies and gent and I’m feeling the burn. We have a book that’s calling my name. I have EMERGED from hibernation to continue my yummy ménage story. It is my first. Yes, my first. *WEG* And what better way to break it in than with a Rookery Cove title. Rookery Cove: Ocean’s Call, coming May 23rd from Changeling Press.

So let me introduce you to Draven. Selkie with a torn soul and captain of Rookery Cove’s only ship. Isn’t he yummy?

So with my inspiration pic, it’s time for me to get to work.

See you soon!

You won’t beat me SVEN!!!! I will complete my word count!

Total for the week, 4.5K.

Total Sven count is close to 9K.

Sven update: Day 5

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

Sven Says Sweat!

Sven count for the day. 1810 words. This will be the last time I do a generic word count as I’ll have to start posting individual progress on my two novellas. I have an excel sheet I use to keep track of the total, so I’ll be updating that count on Sundays.

Spaceport: Bounty comes out tomorrow!!! I’m so excited about that. *HUGE GRIN* Okay all, back to the dungeon for me.

Sweating with Sven, Day 2

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

Sven Says Sweat! Well it’s the first check in day. I should have finished 850 words yesterday. Did I? Yes. My completed total yesterday was 975. Today I’m at 250 but I won’t count it (and the rest) until the end of the day. So I made my first day’s goal!!! Woot!

In other writing news, the League of Amazing Writers has a new website overhaul!!!  Go check it out if you’ve got time!  I’ll be making my rounds with the Slaves of Sven to make sure they’ve posted.  *hugs*  Off to update my list for the day!

Who’s up for Round 3?

Monday, February 11th, 2008

Sven Says Sweat! He’s back, baby!  Sven’s back and ready to kick a little butt!  Aching for a swift shove in the finish the damn book mode?  Sven is there.  His glistening body will guide you in the craziness that is 70 days of Sweat.  Trust me.  He’ll whip you into shape in no time.  Go check it out and see for yourself.  If you’re into it, rock on.  If not, that’s cool too.  You’ve got two weeks to make up your mind.  It starts March 1st.  Trust me when I say you’ll beg Sven for more.

For those who aren’t writers…sometimes you need a little motivation to get that last oomph done.  Since most resolutions have dropped and the relatives have gone home from the Holiday frenzy, it’s time to get to business.  Sven was, I think, Alison Kent’s brainchild.  What’s better than a group of authors motivating each other to make their personal goals?  I love it, myself.  So go out, find your favorite author and encourage them.  LOL.  You’d be surprised how much it means to us.

Much love.

On another note…IE6′ers…I’m doing what I can to fix the wonky blog!  It’ll take some time.  :(

Nano is done…but Sven’s still going!

Saturday, December 1st, 2007

And the world is in shock.  LOL.  We’re all burned out, twitchy and unsure what to do with ourselves.  For some of us, we’re still working on SVEN.  The 70 days of sweat.  I will say this, however, I added up my total word count for Sven and came back with this hot number:

Sven: 65,401

Holy shnikees!  With a little less than 45K on nano, I’ve skyrocketed my Sven count.

My plan for the day:

Get a piece of fiction up since I missed Friday Flash Fiction.  Put up a tasty excerpt I’d promised, and work on Bound Eternally, Book 3 in the Bound series with Changeling.  I’ve also got a review for Bound in Lust!!!  I’ll be putting that up later.  My EDJ (evil day job) kept me at work way too late last night to win nano, but it did give me time to work through my Bound 3 (Bound Eternally) plot issues.

Have a fantastic day, guys!  I’ll be posting more throughout the day.  Happy December 1st.

Heart’s Desire

I had the greatest time reading that last interview!  Wayne’s so talented.  This is one interview I’ve been looking forward to since the beginning.  Michelle’s stories could melt the polar caps, IMHO.  I love the gal.  So here’s the next interview.  Heart’s Desire, by Michelle Hasker.

“Ready for this interview?”

I know why she’s asking. My last interview with a vampire detective hadn’t gone according to plan.

“Michelle?”

“Yes. It’s fine.” I smile and reach for the folder again.

I turn and look at my friend. She’s discarded the outfit for a more sedate yet festive outfit, like the dress I wore.

Adhamh quickly appeared behind Tina catching both of us off guard. His chocolate brown hair was pulled back into a tight ponytail behind his head. His eyes were a dark midnight blue, almost black, and he was tall. Adhamh towered over me as he walked into the room.

I rose and tried to remember I didn’t find men with long hair attractive. “Thank you for joining me tonight. Please, have a seat.” And be still my fluttering heart. If those jeans were any tighter….and that sweater didn’t conceal anything from me. (more…)

Sven and Nano update

Monday, November 5th, 2007

If you wonder why I’ve been incognito on my updates, here’s why.  I’m in deadline-lock.  From the start of Nano I’ve been working feverishly to get this ONE project done.  When I couldn’t get to the Sven website yesterday or the nano update, I had to press on.  You see, in the past five days I’ve written 7428 words.  Now, that may not be a lot to most, but it’s a heck of a lot for me!  My crit partners are stuck in deadline hell as well, and I haven’t been buggin them as much.

So here’s my update…which I’ll post to Sven and Nano when I get home:

Sven: 20401 words.

Nano: 7428 words.

Not too bad if I do say so myself.

Have a great day all.  I’ll be checking up on my other Sven Slaves later on.

All the best,

Dawn

Sven Checkin-1st Sunday

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

10,804 for the week.  On Friday I had to fight off a cold and Saturday I slept for most of the day.  I finished one of my six wips.  Christmas Belle is done!  And off to my editor.

It’s time for me to get to work, so I’ll see you all on Wednesday checkin.

Tell me guys, what’s the most difficult part to write in a story?  The beginning, the middle or the end?  Is it the sex, the relationship, or the villain?

For me it’s the first cataclysmic event in the story…the spot where everything changes within the main character’s world/perception.  It’s so important to get it right.  I stress over it.

Hope your week’s starting out right!

Later,

Dawn
