Bound Edits are done!

Monday, April 27th, 2009

The Bound in Lust Collection edits are done. I’ve expanded the books a bit, but hopefully it’ll be a flawless transition. It’s exciting to see the series put in one book so readers can get the entire story at once. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m heading to bed. It’s been one of those days.

Moving Day

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

For our family moving day is less than 60 days away. In that time my relatives are trying to come and visit, the stepkids and my beautiful grandchildren are coming to visit, and my immediate family is being split up. My husband and son will go to California to be closer to his family and I’ll be sent to parts unknown for a year+ long contract job.

I’m thankful for webcam and vonage, especially since I’m heading to a different country during that time. So the stress around the Montgomery household has increased. Edits are almost done on Bound, I’m almost done with two wips, and I have some vacation time coming.

While I was checking out some of my favorite blogs, I came across this post at  Three Wicked Writers. Kelley was talking about moving and how she felt about it. In the comments people were adding up the number of moves they’d had in their lifetime. So, counting from the time I was three (earliest memory) I had moved *18 times by the time I graduated high school. I wasn’t a military brat so that, in itself, says something. Since then I’ve moved *15 more times, plus this up and coming one. That doesn’t count the two-three month contract job moves in the interim.

That’s sobering. In 30 and a half years I will have moved 34 times (35 if you count my return move to my family shortly after my 31st birthday), and those are just the places I remember. What’s crazy is that there are times when I spent three years in one home.

I think it might just be time to put down roots. What do you guys think?

*Edited: I just got off the phone with my Mom and she filled in the gaps of my memory. So the numbers were changed to represent the actual facts and not a tot’s memory.

April Showers?

Monday, April 13th, 2009

April showers bring May flowers…does anyone remember that little rhyme?

I’m a firm believer, having been raised Texan, that when it rains…it pours. So April is deadline month for me. I’m currently working on edits for Bound in Lust, the collection of Bound in Lust, Bound in Fury and Bound Eternally with the promised epilogue.

I’m in a constant state of change so I have many other wips I’m working on. All, of course, are hot and heavy. A Dark Fae story called Dark Rites, a cowboy contemporary entitled Dare Me, Del Fantasma: Bermuda Triangle, and a science fiction action adventure called Solar Skies. All four look like they’re going to be wrapped up by April 25th.

That leaves me with The Ravaged Land, a fiery romantic suspense that takes place in the wild Australian burn season. I’d love to have The Ravaged Land done by May 1st, but we’ll see how it goes. And for something completely silly and fun, I have a  prairie dog shifter (very short) story coming. It’s called Playing for Keeps and answers all those important paranormal questions: 1. if the world of predators can shift why can’t those lower on the food chain, 2. can two prairie dawgs have an HEA, and 3. where does all that mass go when they shift anyway?

My free reads page will get an overhaul in May and my web guru is working on a new layout for the site. In this mobile-centric society, having a mobile page will make viewing so much easier for those with handheld surfing capabilities (like my husband who gripes every time he goes to my website b/c he can’t read it on his palm phone…Love you honey! LOL).

So why the big push to get everything done right now? I’ll be moving at the end of June. It will last approximately two months since it’s a cross country move for my family and a cross continental one for me. So from the end of June to the end of August, things will be sporadic, contact-wise. I have to get these books in early so my editors don’t kill me… *WEG* In the meantime I’ll be writing when I can, as often as I can. Keeps my stress levels down to do so.

Other future works on their way: 1. Last Call Europe: The Eclipse, 2. a trilogy of contemporary stories involving a return to your first love, 3. another Spaceport (this one involves a deliciously grown up Jake), 4. a new Big, Blooming and Wild! based in the Alaskan wilderness, and 5. finishing up my first novel.

Sounds fun!

#Amazonfail

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

Am I behind or what? I got back from vacation and found out Amazon was out to save my poor virgin eyes from some adult content while keeping others at the forefront.

Erotic romance and GLTBQ authors have been stripped of their sales rank and are no longer found in searches on Amazon. They’re ’saving us’ from adult content…WTF?

So, in the words of my crit partner, Kim Knox “it’s time to get Web 2.0 on them…” *wicked grin*

Personal Writing Challenge 2nd Quarter

2nd Quarter PWC Word Count:

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ll notice I’m a goal-oriented kind of gal. When I don’t have a word count to move toward, I tend to panic a bit and flounder. I won’t say I work best under pressure, but I’ll work until my fingers bleed., if need be. So, to prevent burn out this year, I’ve decided to make my goals shorter-term and achievable. I’ve got a 100K quarterly goal.

So, being the hobby number cruncher that I am, I decided to see how I stacked up to my goal 9 days into the second quarter’s challenge. Already at 9%! Woohooo! Good stuff!

Paradise Run Excerpt

Monday, April 6th, 2009

Paradise Run releases on Thursday! So how about a delicious excerpt to tempt you with?
Blurb:
Kaia had one mission: Get the dignitary to an exchange without letting him get killed. What she didn’t count on was the feral call to mate when they met.

From the moment he saw the mischievous hellcat, High Elder Shon couldn’t keep his paws off her. Now if he could just do something about that pesky relative trying to kill him, maybe he’d be able to convince Kaia to become his mate.

Excerpt:

Kaia licked her lips. His body was beautiful. Sweat slickened his skin. Each movement was like sex in motion. He moved forward and she backed away. Shit, he was changing his direction. Her pussy slickened with cream.

He stepped forward again and she backed up. Her thigh hit something hard. Pain shot down her leg and she hissed through her teeth. He pounced and she jerked away, using her other leg to spring from her position.

She dropped to all fours and her gaze slid between his cheeky grin and the table his hand now caressed. Ambushed by a table. Her pride smarted a bit.

“I can taste your lust in the air.” His slow inhalation drew her gaze back to his cock. Fluid pearled at the tip and she moaned softly. Her hand touched the bruised muscle of her thigh, soothing the ache.

“I can see yours.”

He grinned and rubbed his thumb over the head, spreading the fluid before palming his cock in a long stroke. “Can you feel it? The way my cock would slam into your wet heat. I’ll take you, and make you beg for it.”

“I’m no dog.”

He raised an eyebrow. “I could never make that mistake. But you will beg.”

She narrowed her eyes, and ignored the way heat flared through her core at the thought of being at his mercy. The room’s communication line trilled an incoming call. Kaia jerked her attention away for just a moment, but that’s all he needed.

Shon attacked, and they went rolling across the carpet in a tangle of limbs. Kaia’s claws came unsheathed and went into his skin. He roared and shoved her arms away with his forearms. Kaia tore his skin and growled at the rich taste of his blood on the air. She didn’t have to hold back for a change. Shon slammed her arms down on the ground and locked them above her head. Gentle was not on the menu today.

The comm. line trilled again, and she arched against him. Shon bit the spot where shoulder met neck. Instantly Kaia went limp, boneless from the sweet ecstasy sliding through her skin. He rowled against her skin, and it sent sparks of pleasure to her pussy.

His tongue laved against her skin between his teeth, and she shivered under his body. Suddenly her clothes were too much of a barrier. She wrapped her leg around his body, wanting to ease the ache of her pussy.

He released her wrists and ran claws in light caresses down her arms. The rip of her clothing as he shred them barely registered past the sensation of his skin touching hers. No hair on his body against the light fuzz of her own torso. He pulled the shredded clothing from her body, and pressed the head of his cock against her pussy.

She struggled under his hold. This wasn’t what she wanted! Not like this, she needed…

Shon released his hold and flipped her over. “Is this what you want, kitten?”

His fingernails dug into her hips, locking her in place. Kaia rowled in warning. His tongue touched her spine in tiny rough licks. It shot heat straight to her core, and she lifted her hips higher. Her tail wrapped around his torso, pulling him closer.

He nipped at her shoulder blade. Kaia twisted, and he shoved her back down. “Oh no, hellcat, I’ve got you just about where I want you.”

She dug her claws in the carpet.

He pressed his palm against her slick wetness. “You’re almost ready.”

“If I were any more ready, I’d be over the edge by now.”

Shon leaned over her body, and with his cock ridge sliding over her slick flesh Kaia’s thoughts scattered. “Let me show you what it’s like to be at the edge, sweet.” The whispered growl in her ear sent chills of sensual heat across her skin. His hips moved, and pressure from his cock rubbed her clit, sending sparks of pleasure to her already desperate pussy.

His tongue touched his mark. The sting fired along her nerve endings, flooding her pussy with darker heat. Her thoughts regressed to nothing more than need. Want. Each movement of his hips sent her spiraling deeper into desperation.

He nipped the back of her neck. “Your name.”

She shook her head. What was he asking?

His fingers rolled her nipple with enough pressure to make her ache. “Your name.”

He knew her name, didn’t he? Hadn’t she told him? His fingers worked their magic, dragging her attention back to need. To sex.

Shon growled and jerked her head back. His teeth nipped at her throat. Her sex flooded with moisture. She purred. “Tell me your name or I walk away now, leaving you trembling on my floor.”

“You wouldn’t.”

He stroked the length of his cock along her slit. “Try me.”
