Another dreary Wednesday…

Plummeting temperatures (which I like), frigid rain (not a fan) and a dog who refuses to go outside to do his business when he gets cold (which is driving me INSANE) is an odd mix of another dreary Wednesday.

So, in honor of hump day blahs, I’m going to post a little something to cheer you all up. LOL I hope. Welcome to Wicked Wednesdays, a free read/naughty excerpt day on my blog. We’ll start off this week with an introduction to Angel, my LAW persona.

So without further ado…Welcome to:

Angel of LAW stars in the Search for the Star Sapphire

Part One

“Stupid piece of crap!” Clanks echoed from beneath the front end of an old ford pickup truck. The body had been in great shape but the rest was shit and Angel cursed the impulse that had her buy the damned thing.

She caressed the underside of the truck.  Being a member of LAW was one of the most rewarding experiences in her life.  No more having to prove herself over and over.  There wasn’t anyone vying for her position.  The ladies just let her do her mechanical whiz thing without stomping on her creativity.  And left her to do her own thing, like Frankenstein this piece of shit.

The truck died.  “Dammit!  What’s wrong with you now?”  She already had to replace the brake lines.  The satellite radio from the bench blasted the latest Disturbed hit. Angel sighed, sliding from beneath on her wheeled creeper. She really needed to look into a hydraulic lift. A creeper was nice for small jobs, but replacing the brake lines was going to be a bitch. She needed more head room.

A soft cough drew her attention. Angel sat up, making sure she had enough clearance. Her head still hurt from yesterday’s slam.

She looked up and pulled up short. Standing before her was one of the most delicious men she’d seen in a long time.  All starch and impatience. Dark hair, narrowed eyes behind wire-rimmed glasses , a white button-up across broad shoulders, and leaning against the far wall. Her very dirty wall. He’d have a dirty ass on those gorgeous khakis when he left. She smiled, bringing her knee up.  She threw her arm over her leg in a lazy pose.  Oh, that pissed him off. She tossed her red hair. “You don’t look like one of Rhae’s pets.  What can I do for you?”

He cleared his throat and gave a tight smile. “Pets?”  His eyebrows rose in a surprise.  “I’m no pet, sweetheart, but I need your help.” He crossed his arms over his chest. “I’ve been told you’re the one I have to see.”

Really? How interesting. Angel smiled. “Again, what can I do for you?”

“They tell me you’re good at solving puzzles.”

Angel raised an eyebrow.  “Did they also tell you I don’t like visitors?”

His smile had an edge of danger she’d come to expect from her old life and, despite herself, a jolt of excitement shot down her spine.

  1. Oh frig! That ended too soon! LOL. I was getting into it and wanted to know what he needed her for (other than a good tumble eventually, I hope.)
