Okay guys…I’m fighting hurt. I got the run-around at the hospital. They want to do an MRI, etc. I said fine…but I can still do my thing, right? I’ve been given a tentative green with a move into yellow. I have a list of things to look out for but the preliminary tests look okay. [...]

Day Eight
ARGH. I’ll be getting x-rays tomorrow…can’t fight hurt and the instructors are adamant about it. I’m two days behind now. Friday is my last possible day to pick back up again. *sigh* For now it’s anti-inflammatories and a long hot soak tonight. Hope your day’s going well! Happy Hump Day. LOL.

Day Seven…This time it was me…
My opponent from yesterday seemed okay. Twenty minutes into practice he was injured by a different opponent. This time his elbow. He’s pulling himself from the course. Today…it was my turn. My knee is now stiff and swollen. I’ll be getting x-rays later to see if I’ve torn anything. Wish me luck.

Day Six
Submission sucks. I’ve been submitted (owned) at least a dozen times today. Let me tell you, there’s no more humbling experience than eating the mat. I’ve asked for and been granted additional mat time in order to be able to apply the information given to me. I’ve forced submission three times so I’m getting better. [...]

The Weekend…finally
Okay, I’m officially exhausted. ROFL. Last week was rough and next week is going to be tougher! Two weeks total to go. My opponent on Thursday and Friday was a 220 lb, 6 ft 2 inch man. And while I was able to submit him a couple of times, he got me more often than [...]

Day Four…
Holy smokes, my shoulder and knee are SORE. Both on the right side. Today I learned that what I drill (practice) flies right out of my head when we’re actually rolling for dominant position. As sexy as it sounds, I guarantee…it’s not so sexy when your legs get trapped in an awkward position…although that does [...]

Did you know…
Your body can bend in half with all its weight on the back of your neck? They call that stacking the deck. It definitely takes a bit of air out of your lungs and a notch or two out of your ego. ROFL. Also, I’ve learned that sleep isn’t as necessary as Ibuprofen. But I’m [...]

Crickets and Combat
You’ll notice that I haven’t been updating for a bit and I promise there’s a very good reason…exhaustion. I’m in the middle (*snort* I wish, more like the beginning) of a hand to hand combat course (workshop) that is *literally* kicking my butt, but in a good way…My bruises make my husband cringe and he [...]
