The ants go marching…

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Picture this.

5 am and a grumpy redhead with hair resembling something out of a horror movie trudges to a sparsely lit kitchen, pours iced tea into her favorite glass slooooooooowly so as not to spill it all over the counter.

At this time the grumpy redhead is working on a plotting problem involving a hot sexy demon and his soon-to-be target…in more ways than one.  This brings a smile to the redhead’s face.  Her fingers ITCH to type on the keyboard.

She trudges, with a slightly lighter step and less sour expression toward her Writing Cave.  The redhead sets her glass down on the coaster and wiggles her fingers.  It was time to get to work.  When her blurry eyes opened to see the keys in order to her fingers properly (the ridges on the “f” and “j” keys have been worn away by years of sweet tapping) she notices something horrific.

Ants.

All over her keyboard.  She gasps.  Dear sweet chocolate gods, there were ANTS ON HER KEYBOARD!!!!  Not only her keyboard, ladies and gentlemen, all OVER HER DESK.  And the floor.  And the rest of the office.

You see, it appears ANTS in this part of Texas don’t like to GET WET so they look for dry and WARM areas to hole up in.  All this from the nice exterminator I spoke with over the phone.  So it appears I had bugs in my system.  LOL.

I have been INVADED.  Not by little green men or anything else interesting…No, I’ve been invaded by ANTS.  THIS is why I haven’t been online as much as I’d like. I couldn’t run the risk of ants gumming up the guts (technical term LOL) of the laptop.  So I was writing on the ASUS and working on fumigating the office and inner sanctum. I have missed you all.  :)

This tongue-in-cheek post brought to you by…ME.

Reviews and Coming Soon!

Joyfully Reviewed has reviewed Bound Eternally and Spaceport: Bounty!

Jambrea had this to say about Bound Eternally:

Bound Eternally is the third installment of the Bound series and it is action-packed.  Not only did Dawn Montgomery give me all the hot sex I could want, she also gave me the action I crave.  The build up from the first two books exploded with this third story.  I’m not sure if there will be a forth book, but I’ll be looking out for it because Ms. Montgomery sure knows how to spin a tale and leave me wanting for more.

Jambrea reviewed Spaceport: Bounty as well:

Bounty is a sexy romp with a Johnny Mnemonic feel to it.  I love a book with action and Dawn Montgomery brings it on with a sexy bounty hunter.  A strong female lead is always good for me and Ms. Montgomery knows how to write a strong woman.  Poor Mack, all he wanted to do was his job and he gets the shaft because of a cover up!  Mack leads Alexis on a great chase and the two are wonderful together.  I really enjoyed the feel of this story from the action both in and out of bed.

Jambrea is fabulous!

Also…COMING JUNE 13th from Aspen Mountain Press:

Shadow Lies, a plain brown wrapper

Fifteen years should have blurred the edges of her memory, but for Kristiana, there is no relief.  A love bite by a vampire has left her enhanced and pissed off. So what does a woman do when her old lover returns and wants to pick up where he left off?

You play to win, of course.  As only a woman can.

Excerpt:
“Am I going to be playing with myself, Alexander?”  She ran a palm down her tight tank top, molding her breast in her hand, squeezing playfully.

He blinked slowly.   She could taste his lust in the air.  Damn him for making her wait.    He undid his cuffs with enough impatience to ease her frustration.  His fingers made quick work of the line of buttons running down his chest, and before she could blink, his shirt was on the floor.

She ran an appreciative gaze down his muscled chest.  The tank he wore molded to his skin, showing her all the right ridges and curves.  Damn.  Her memories did him no justice.

Rookery Cove: Ocean’s Call Available Now

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Mood : Nervous and Excited

Rookery Cove, Ocean’s Call has now released! And I have a contest! Enter the code: OCEAN08 when you purchase this title from Changeling Press and you’ll receive 5% off your order.  You’ll also be entered to win a fantastic little home spa package.  :)

What’s a sexual therapist to do when she finds herself bored with sex?

An invitation to Rookery Cove Aphrodisiacs may be just what the doctor ordered. No worries, no regrets, just relaxation in one of the most beautiful northern coves in the world. But when two delicious men come calling, can Nikita keep things from blazing out of control?

For Connor, watching his mate spiral into darkness is tearing him apart. Nikita brings a breath of fresh air into their lives, reminding Connor of life and love. Now he just has to convince Draven to fall for the doctor…past or no past.

As captain of Rookery Cove’s sole water travel vessel, Draven has it all. No worries, no regrets, no reason to face a history long dead, but it’s a half life. Every day puts him closer to the edge and his lover is at his wit’s end. Nikita’s arrival awakens a dark yearning deep within, one filled with shadows and memories he’d rather never face, but with her soft touch and sexy smile, he’s lost before he knows it.

For the bisexual selkies, Nikita may be exactly what they need.

When the three get together, the heat flaring among them sizzles the night, but when morning comes can it be enough to keep them together? Or will their personal demons tear them apart?

Here is a delicious Excerpt all for you…it’s verra hot, so please click on more to read.  All content © Dawn Montgomery.

Nikita narrowed her eyes at the two, stepping away from both men. Connor’s expression gave nothing away, and Draven’s dark eyes flashed his dark sensuality. “I appreciate the offer gentlemen, but I really would love to feed you breakfast.”

Connor’s grin surprised her. “I’ve noticed something about our hellcat, Draven.”

The captain glanced at Connor.

Nikita scoffed. “Hellcat? You have your wires crossed.”

“She takes that tone every time we make her uncomfortable.” Connor’s eyes lit with devilment and Nikita licked her suddenly dry lips.

“You have tells, doctor?” Draven moved around the foyer, drawing her attention to his lithe body. His black hair drifted on the breeze and damn if she didn’t want to wrap her hands in it.

Nikita swallowed and refused to back off. “Doctors don’t have tells. Gamblers do.”

Draven ran his fingertips up his thighs, drawing her attention to his delicious cock stretched against the denim of his jeans. He tugged at his shirt, pulling it free of the waistband. “You think inviting us here wasn’t a gamble?”

Nikita clenched her fists. Draven pushed the door shut with a firm shove.

“Why did you invite us here?” Connor’s question jerked her attention back to the redhead. His shirt dropped from careless fingertips. Nikita couldn’t think past the glow of his creamy body. Sunlight kissed and full of heat.

“For breakfast.” The thick rasp of her voice had her wishing for a drink of something cool and refreshing. All voyeuristic intent vanished. She wanted to taste Connor’s skin.

The heat of Draven’s body molded to her back and Nikita shivered. “I’m famished, doctor.”

Nikita inhaled his spicy scent, and let it soak through her skin and race through her blood. The salty tang of the ocean clung to him. Connor grasped her wrist and nibbled along the edge, tasting her skin. Nikita groaned, loving the way electricity pulsed from that one tiny spot through her body to her clit.

Connor pulled her close and took a deep breath. “You smell so damned good.”

Nikita gave a husky chuckle. “So do you handsome.”

Connor tasted her lips in a soft suckle, lightly scraping his teeth against her sensitive skin. He pulled open her robe, letting it fall to the ground in a pool of dark satin.

Nikita melted into the redhead’s kiss. Calloused fingertips tugged at her stiff nipples making her breath catch in the back of her throat. Connor’s tongue swept in to her open mouth, caressing her tongue with his and swallowing her moan.

Draven’s heat seeped in from behind, branding her with his touch. Fingernails grazed the swell of her breast and Nikita sighed, letting her head fall back on Draven’s chest. “This is the time to tell us no.” Draven’s lips brushed her ear with his whisper.

“Why would I want to do that?” Nikita laughed, breathless at their touches. Her pussy grew warm and heated, the slow response like a warm current flowing through her body.

“Let’s take this to a place with seating.” Draven’s suggestion had them all chuckling.

She led them by their hands to the living room, hoping they didn’t notice her trembling. Draven pulled her wrist and turned her so that she faced his broad chest. His hand cupped her cheek and a work hardened thumb caressed her bottom lip. “You are sure?”

Nikita hesitated, wondering if she should tell him how nervous she was. Talking about this kind of sex was much different than living it, despite her longtime fantasies. She took a deep breath. “I’m sure.”

Connor pressed against her back and nipped at the bend of her shoulder. “You taste delicious.”

Nikita grabbed Connor’s hair with a hand, arching into his touch. Her eyes closed when his teeth scraped against the skin. Her pussy tingled in awareness, slicking within in lust.

He bit down and she groaned. Her head fell back against Connor’s shoulder. Draven bent to take one hardened nipple in his hard mouth, sucking and lightly lathing the tip with his rough tongue. His skilled fingers teased and caressed her other breast. Connor’s hand slid around her hip, caressing the trimmed mound covering her pussy. His talented fingers brushed the lips of her sex and Nikita could feel the wet heat slip through to his touch.

“That’s my girl,” he whispered, slipping the fingertip within. Connor turned her around in his arms with his finger still clenched in her pussy. He added another and they started slowly fucking her cunt, increasing pressure where she needed it the most.

I hope you enjoyed the excerpt.  Rookery Cove: Ocean’s Call is available NOW from Changeling Press: http://www.changelingpress.com/product.php?&upt=book&ubid=895

The Cave

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

As promised, here are pics of my new writing cave. It is *literally* a closet. Almost a perfect square in the floorplan. I have multiple shelves and two desks. I’d bought one for writing and the other one (the corner one you’ll see in a moment) my husband had bought for himself without realizing it had been built for people of curvy fae proportions (SHORT PEOPLE, OKAY???). So we, on a whim decided to see if we could put both desks in here without me feeling claustrophobic. The answer. Yes. :) Also we have a bookshelf beside the corner desk so I can put all my “to do” notices there. Overall, I think it looks fantastic and most of all, it’s functional!

Tell me what you think. :)

The Cave Before and After

Here’s a couple of shots around the room. Do you see my beautiful ASUS eee? Isn’t it lovely? If you’ll look at the books on the shelf above (yes, one of those is indeed titled the Pirate Dictionary LOL), you’ll notice that the ASUS is about the size of a trade paperback. I love my writing computer. And yes, that is a chocobo penny bank sitting next to a fairy. WHAT? Notice the corner desk I was commenting on earlier. The notebook you see on the desk is a 5×8 inch spiral. Does that give you an idea of the actual size of the thing?

To the right of the ASUS is my calendar and reminder area. Remember, this IS in a closet. 57inches by 63 inches. If you’ll look in the upper right hand corner of the picture (the left hand side of the dry erase board) you’ll see a very familiar Dark Elf from Jet Mykles. *sigh* I lurve her artwork.

If I turn around we’ll find the business end of my writing. The compaq laptop, my dry erase board and all my office stuff stashed away in lovely drawers. I’m still unpacking so I don’t have all my books up but the ones on the left hand side of that shelf are books that have, in some way, shape, or form influenced my writing career to date. I’m currently missing my Evermore by Lynn Viehl, Guilty Pleasures by LKH, and a few others. On the shelves above I have all of my signed books I’ve collected through the years and paperbacks written by my crit partners. I don’t have pics of them yet b/c I also have my home tool kit open and strewn all over the place. *WEG*

So that’s it. That’s my cave. Not much to write home about, I know, but it’s MINE.

Author Shoutout: Emma Ray Garrett

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

This week I’m happy to chat with Emma Ray Garrett. The lady and I go way back. She’s an amazing woman with an incredible talent at spinning tales of the action adventure persuasion. Her characters’ relationships are nothing short of explosive in their intensity and she rocks it consistently. I am proud to call her friend and am squee-ing at the fact that she was willing to talk to me about one of my favorite series to date…Pret Ops.

Identity is your newest release with Changeling Press. Let me tell you, it’s SMOKIN’ hot. I’m completely in lust with both of the men. *WEG* So tell me, what was it like revisiting your Pret Ops world?

I had a blast falling back in love with the Recondite Corp. One of my fav genres is military fiction, so being able to mix elements of that with erotica, and some thriller tossed in for good measure, was absolutely fantastic

All the Pret Ops books are novellas, have you thought about doing a full length book?

I have, yes. Short books can be a lot of fun, but I know this world has so much more detail to share with readers. I’m not making any promises, LOL, but I do hope one day to write a full length Pret Ops story.

What made you choose Cole and John, after all they share the same last name and were foster brothers for a time?

LOL, true. They were as close as any brothers could be after Cole came to live with the Marshall’s. But much like Nat and Stas – from “Familiar” – there was never any familial feeling between the two men. Cole took the Marshall last name when he turned 18 as much out of honor and thanks to the Marshall’s, as to signify starting out adult life a new man. He was putting aside the really, really bad things from his childhood and embracing the healed, strengthened man he’d become with the Marshall’s.

I adore polar bears (secret weakness…shhh don’t tell anyone). What was the most challenging part about writing a polar bear and seal combination?

Pondering the mechanics. The Pret Ops world follows certain scientific principles of our own world, so I had to figure out a way to make a polar bear shifter happen AND understand how the combination would pan out. I had a ton of fun with it, btw, and I love the added tension between Cole and Lucia. Mortal enemies and all, LOL!

In Identity you introduced us to a new division. Would you like to tell us more about it?

Sure. Cyber Operations is the unit John and Cole Marshall have put all their spare time into for the last decade plus. Cy Ops specializes in computer/internet crime involving preternaturals – whether as victims or perpetrators. I am such a tech freak, I’ve been thinking about this branch of the Corp nearly from the beginning of the series. I mean, super men and women kick ass and take names, but they’re just as vulnerable to cyber wars – perhaps more so because they have more to protect – as the rest of us. I really wanted to know about the people in the Corp who ride the line of exposure more than any of the rest of the Pret Ops world and that’s where Cy Ops began. The first book in the Cy Ops series should be out later this year :)

Would you be willing to share a juicy excerpt with us?

It would be my pleasure!

Due to the nature of the incredibly lusty and deliciously decadent excerpt, I have to ask you to please click to read more. All content is © Emma Ray Garrett. Click for more at your own risk…*WEG* (more…)

Joyfully Reviewed, a Golden Rose, and New Covey Awards!

Monday, May 19th, 2008

Joyfully Reviewed has reviewed Bound in Lust and Bound in Fury!

Jambrea had this to say about Bound in Lust:

Bound in Lust is HOT! There is no stopping the sexual need in the story. It pulses off the pages. Dawn Montgomery did a wonderful job putting the lust Drake’s character. I know she had me panting!

Bound in Lust is a story that is to be continued. Book two should prove interesting. I can’t wait to go get swept away again.

Jambrea reviewed Bound in Fury as well:

Bound in Fury is just as hot as the first book, Bound in Lust. Bound in Fury continues the story of Elena and Drake and it takes up right where Bound in Lust left off. Dawn Montgomery did a great job showing the inner struggle Elena is going through. Elena and Drake are so smoking hot, they steam up the pages and I love the sexual need between the two. The story doesn’t end here. There is a third book. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

I’m absolutely amazed!

Bound in Fury has also received the Golden Rose from Love Romances Cafe and More for best coveart 2007! Congrats Reneé George!

Also, Spaceport: Bounty is up on the New Covey Awards site.  Voting has yet to commence…but I figured I’d link anyway.  LOL.

Sven Ends…

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

Mood : accomplished

On this post, I’d given you all a preview of the month of May. As you can see some of them were crossed out already. One of them was Sven. The 70 days of sweat, begun by Alison Kent and continued by so many wonderful people… Some of them were kind enough to stop by and give me a hurrah! The 70 days officially ended yesterday, the 16th.

My original goal was 4 novellas and it was done…

1. Spaceport: Bounty…coming in at 24K

2. Rookery Cove: Ocean’s Call…coming in at 22K

3. Del Fantasma: Bermuda Triangle…coming in at 15K (it goes to the editor tomorrow after I tweak it a bit)

4. The Shadow Demon…coming in at 20K. I’ll tell you more about THIS one, later. *WEG*

For the FIRST TIME I have finished a Sven challenge! *throws confetti* 81K holy wow. Who knew?

I feel accomplished…and ready to get to work on another project!

I’m Back!!

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

That was a much-longer-than-expected hiatus! The move was successful, somewhat. We are still finding the carnage of their horrible packing jobs. Just to give you an idea of the age group of our packers:

My comic books (I read them, and could care less about the value! I READ THEM like they’re novels…well used) and comic book cards were triple wrapped and padded, reinforced and carefully tucked away, while my Japanese folded steel cutting knife ($125 retail) was thrown in a plastic tin with a bunch of tools (Imagine the gouges!) and my self healing cutting mat (again over $100 retail) was shoved in the back of the moving truck, warped beyond repair and with a HUGE gash in the middle. It’s a SELF HEALING MAT. But my comics made it okay. So did my video games, again extremely well padded.

I’m thankful for movers insurance. There are a lot of other broken items, like the painting the mover stepped through during the unload…but I digress.

This weekend I’ll be giving you guys the scoop on my first ever ménage release! M/M/F yumminess. It’s one of the latest Rookery Coves from Changeling Press and comes out on Thursday! I have an interview with the wonderful and fabulous Emma Ray Garrett on her Pret Ops series…her ending book was delicious! I’ll have to give an impromptu review as well.

I’m working on something delightful for Aspen Mountain Press’s Del Fantasma series. More on that as soon as I hear back from the editor.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend and I’ll hopefully be popping my head into the Changeling Bar and Grill later today (when I wake up) or tomorrow. Have a great rest of the night.
