It has been CHOSEN!

Friday, September 28th, 2007

Okay all, we have a winner on the Choose Your Own Adventure story!  BTW, I think we need a title.  How does Night Shift sound?

By an almost unanimous decision your choice was:

Does she stand her ground with the tree at her back?

Yes, ladies and gents, it appears she does.  This weekend *cough* Sunday *cough* expect the next installment!  Since this is an experiment tell me what you think.  I’ll make this story available at the end via .pdf.

Thank you for your votes!

Chapter Reads

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

I used to love reading what’s now known as “chapter books” when I was a kid.  Every chapter had a cliffhanger.  I’d read it, close the book, and wonder what would happen next.  Most of the time I’d have to turn off the lights b/c it was bedtime.  Man, they were great.  I also loved choose your own adventures.  There was one in particular that had me so freakin happy.  It had Indiana Jones, Vampires, and Werewolves…come ON!!!

So in memory of my favorite passtime, reading…*naughty naughty thoughts, dear readers* I’ll start posting a choose your own adventure chapter book, if you will.  If there are no comments and/or emails between now and two weeks from now, I’ll choose my own path.  No worries, avid readers, there will be no death (for the H and h) or dismemberment (not really, not really sure about that one)… Warning: unedited material ahead.  (more…)

Demon Lover

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

Here is a blurb for one of my current WIP’s tentatively titled Demon Lover:

For Elena, the darkness courted her. As an empath, she can be enslaved by her emotions. When the dark mark of the succubae entwines with her soul, she becomes the dark. Now she was the hunted. And the one place she could find refuge was with a demon. Drake Oblivion, dark demon of lust. For a price, all things are possible, but will a cure be worth the cost of her soul…or heart?

For the Cure

Monday, September 3rd, 2007

Alison Kent has really done an awesome thing…she started a craze that’s sweeping the ebook net.  Phaze publishing has created a book entitled Coming Together: For the Cure where all proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen foundation.  She’s reached her goal, but others have picked up the torch and ran with it.

Fellow Aspen Mountain Press author, Jessica D. Russell has decided to purchase 1 book per 10 posts.  She’ll then give these books away to those who commented.  It really is an awesome thing, guys.  I know there are others, including an editor from the Phaze editing team

Take a few seconds, go over and leave a comment.  It’s minimal effort for a huge project.

 Later,

Dawn

Three contracts and an ABB, oh my!

Sunday, September 2nd, 2007

My posting hiatus is at an end.  I’ve contracted three books between now and Christmas.  :-)   Christmas Eve, btw, is my one year anniversary for being a pubb’d author.  There are some absolutely awesome people in this industry.  Some that are scary, as well.  ;)

The awesome Shiloh Walker has a great post today on ABB-Authors behaving badly.  In this year of insanity, two publishers are gone, two more are in trouble, and even print is sitting up and paying attention to ebook-land.  I wish you all the best on this Labor Day holiday.  Enjoy the last hurrah of summer!
