Happy New Year

Sunday, December 31st, 2006

2 hours to go and I’m writing away.  Possessed is now breaking 12K and I’m stoked.  I’ve received a return on a collaboration from a very talented author.  We’re three chapters in and it’s rocking.  I needed a change from demons anyway.

Tomorrow is the start of the new year.  I know most of us have resolutions.  I’d love to know yours.  Shoot me an email with yours and I’ll give a random prize for the new year.  Deadline is January 7th.  I’ll post mine tomorrow.  :-)

For those who love to write erotic romance, Amber Quill’s annual Amber Heat contest starts tomorrow.  It lasts from the 1st through the 15th.

Have a great 1st day of the year.

Pushing forward

Mood : happily exhausted

I am 9000 words into Possessed and I’m ecstatic!  It’s coming along very well.

Here’s a question from my inbox.  What is the deal with word count?

It’s what publishers place their guidelines on.  The average novel is about 70K words.  You have to meet minimum requirements before you consider submitting your piece.  There are many other types of published work.  Novellas, short stories, teasers, each with its own word count.  If you have any other questions please feel free to email me.

Possessed is well on its way to becoming a novel.

Have a Happy New Year, everyone!  Be safe.

Possessed

Friday, December 29th, 2006

Possessed, the title of my current WIP is coming along very well.  I’m 4500 words into it and it is not letting go.  My plan is to write for as long as my body can last.

I spent a couple of hours today working on a collaboration piece with Aline de Chevigny entitled Dragon Fire.  The chapters are coming together and I’ll be ready to work on the next section in a few weeks.

The section WIPs will be updated this weekend with all of my current works, to include those out for submission.  Have a safe New Year’s everyone.  Remember to check back on the 1st for my contest details.

Contract’s been sent

Friday, December 29th, 2006

Well, the contract’s been sent off and I’m anxiously awaiting the confimed release date.  The promo in LAW was fantastic.  I really enjoyed chatting with fans, publishers, reviewers, and other authors.  I’m overwhelmed at the generous congratulations from all of them.

Jet Mykles has a new release today.  Check it out.   I’ve heard it’s a fantastic read.

On the writing front, I was inspired last night by an IM chat.  A new WIP is coming to the forefront.  I’m already 2000 words into it.  What time did I feel this inspiration?  2am.  It’s going to be a long day.  :-)

Check back here on New Year’s Day for my contest!  Prize?  $10 gift certificate to Loose-ID.

I’m out.

“Own Me” has a home!!! First published book!

Saturday, December 23rd, 2006

Mood : ecstatic

“Own Me” has been picked up by Aspen Mountain Press for their Plain Brown Wrapper serial. It’s a hot little read and was a lot of fun to write. Here is more information. I’ll let you know when the release date will be. They’re a great publishing company and a lot of fun to work with.

The website is one step closer to completion and our updates are coming like wildfire. Why? Because tomorrow’s Christmas Eve and I asked that the spunpuppy staff not work on my site then. Since the crash they’ve worked nonstop to get everyone back online. But when they heard I’d sold my first book, my developer set a furious pace to get me done by today.

It’s an amazing Christmas Present.

We’re Live, sort of

Saturday, December 23rd, 2006

Hello all.  I know my site’s been down for a while so let me fill you in.  In the past several months my life has been a whirlwind.  I’ve gotten married, had a son, broken an ankle, had a surgery, and had my server crash twice.  It’s been a crazy year and I’m just now settling back into something managable.  My son’s four months old now and my husband’s been wonderful with my recovery.  I tend to be stubborn and try to push myself too far too fast.  It’s a great thing he’s as stubborn as I am.

Right now Spunpuppy Webworks is creating my new layout.  Until then, I’ll be playing with temporary templates.

In writing news, I’ve had a book accepted for publishing.  I’ll fill you in on that soon.  *huge grin*

Several of my friends have been nominated for CAPA awards this year.

Kim Rees’s Buying Mackenzie’s Baby (Samhain Publishing) is nominated for Best Contemporary Romance.

The Ladies of the League of Amazing Writers has three nominees:

  • Howl Anthology with Jet Mykles (Loose ID) for Best Erotic Anthology
  • Blind Devotion by Lucynda Storey (Triskelion Publishing) for Best Fantasy Romance
  • A Song of the Sidhe by Jeanne Barrack (Loose ID) for Best Fantasy Erotic Romance

Eve Vaughn, last year’s Best New Author, Erotic category is nominated again.  Gemini Rising 2: London Falling by Eve Vaughn (Changeling Press) for Best Fantasy Erotic Romance

Good luck ladies!  It’ll be announced in February.

Have a great day!
